The name is said to derive from two ancestral terms in the local imagined languages, roughly translating to "shore" and "gate," a reference to its position as a gateway between sea routes and inland settlements.

Geographically, Hermoradalle sits on a protected bay with rocky shores and a steep hinterland. The climate is temperate maritime, with mild winters and cool, foggy summers, and frequent sea winds that shape local architecture and livelihoods.
