Hermeneutikat

Hermeneutikat is the Finnish term for hermeneutics, the field concerned with the theory and methods of interpretation. It describes the various approaches to understanding texts, speech, and social meaning, and is used to refer to the body of hermeneutic ideas in Finnish scholarship.

Historically, hermeneutics developed from ancient and medieval exegesis and was later transformed by modern philosophers. In Finnish contexts, hermeneutikat cover philosophical hermeneutics as well as applied forms used in literature, theology, law, education, and the social sciences. Contemporary discussions address questions of subjectivity, bias, and the role of power, with branches such as critical and feminist hermeneutics contributing to broader interpretive practices.
