Heqet

Heqet, also transliterated Heket, is a frog goddess from ancient Egyptian religion associated with fertility, childbirth, and renewal. The frog was a potent symbol of life and fecundity in the Nile region, and Heqet is usually depicted as a frog or as a woman with a frog head. Her presence embodies the life-giving potential of the marshlands and the yearly rejuvenation signaled by the Nile’s floods.
