In addition to head, eye, ear, and respiratory protection, PPE also encompasses protective clothing such as gloves made from various materials to guard against cuts, abrasions, chemicals, or temperature extremes. Safety footwear, often featuring steel toes and puncture-resistant soles, is crucial for protecting feet from falling objects or sharp materials. High-visibility clothing is essential for workers in environments with moving vehicles to ensure they are easily seen. Fall protection equipment, including harnesses and lanyards, is vital for preventing injuries from falls from heights.

It is important that PPE is properly fitted, maintained, and used according to instructions. Employers are typically responsible for assessing risks, providing suitable PPE, and ensuring employees are trained in its correct use and care. Likewise, employees have a responsibility to use the provided PPE diligently to safeguard their own health and safety.
