Hengellinen

Hengellinen is the Finnish adjective meaning related to the spirit, religion, or sacred matters. It derives from henki, meaning spirit or breath, with the -ellinen suffix that forms adjectives describing a characteristic connected to that root. The term is primarily used to describe things connected to faith, spirituality, or religious life.

In everyday use, hengellinen can modify music, literature, life, or institutions: hengellinen musiikki (sacred or spiritual music), hengellinen elämä (spiritual life), hengellinen yhteisö (religious community), hengellinen johtaja (religious leader).
