Helluntaipäivänä, also known as Pentecost, is a Christian festival celebrated fifty days after Easter. It commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles, as described in the Book of Acts in the New Testament. This event is considered a pivotal moment in Christian history, marking the birth of the Church and the empowerment of believers to spread the Gospel.

The timing of Pentecost is directly linked to the Jewish festival of Shavuot (Feast of Weeks). Shavuot was originally an agricultural festival celebrating the wheat harvest and later became associated with the commemoration of the giving of the Torah on Mount Sinai. Jesus' disciples were gathered in Jerusalem for Shavuot when the Holy Spirit descended upon them, highlighting a continuity between the Old and New Covenants in Christian theology. The colors associated with Pentecost often include red, symbolizing the fire of the Holy Spirit, and white, representing purity and celebration.
