Hartablatie

Hartablatie, also known as cardiac ablation, is a medical procedure used to treat irregular heart rhythms, or arrhythmias. The technique involves using radiofrequency energy or cryotherapy to destroy small areas of heart tissue that are causing abnormal electrical signals. This disrupts the abnormal pathways that lead to arrhythmias, allowing the heart to regain a normal rhythm.

The procedure is typically performed by a cardiologist with specialized training in electrophysiology. Patients are usually under local anesthesia, though general anesthesia may be used in some cases. A catheter, a thin, flexible tube, is inserted into a blood vessel and guided to the heart using X-ray imaging. Once in place, the catheter delivers energy to the targeted heart tissue, creating small scars that block abnormal electrical signals.

Hartablatie is commonly used to treat conditions such as atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, and various types of ventricular tachycardia. It is often recommended when medications fail to control the arrhythmia or when the patient experiences frequent, debilitating symptoms. The procedure carries some risks, including bleeding, infection, damage to blood vessels, and in rare cases, heart perforation or stroke. Long-term complications, such as recurrence of arrhythmia or scarring of heart tissue, may also occur.

Recovery from hartablatie usually involves a short hospital stay, typically one to two days. Patients are advised to avoid strenuous activities for several weeks and may need to take blood thinners for an extended period to prevent blood clots. Follow-up appointments are essential to monitor heart function and manage any ongoing symptoms. Success rates vary depending on the type of arrhythmia and individual patient factors, but many experience significant improvement in their heart rhythm after the procedure.
