Harcokats

Harcokats are a fictional species originating from the planet Xylos in the Starfarer's Chronicle series. They are described as sentient, feline-like creatures known for their intelligence and adaptability. Physically, Harcokats possess a sleek, muscular build, covered in short, dense fur that typically displays earthy tones such as brown, grey, and black, often with distinctive markings. Their large, luminous eyes are adapted for low-light conditions, granting them excellent night vision. A long, prehensile tail aids in balance and can be used for communication through subtle movements.

The Harcokats are a technologically advanced civilization, having developed sophisticated interstellar travel and energy manipulation systems. Their society is often depicted as highly organized, with a strong emphasis on community and collective advancement. They are known for their diplomatic skills and have often served as intermediaries in interspecies conflicts throughout the galaxy. While generally peaceful, Harcokats are capable defenders and will protect their home world and allies with considerable ferocity when threatened. Their diet is primarily carnivorous, supplemented with certain Xylosian flora. Their reproductive cycle involves small litters, and young Harcokats are cared for communally.
