Hammerbrecher

A Hammerbrecher, or hammer crusher, is a type of crushing machinery used to reduce the size of brittle materials by applying impact and shear forces from high-speed rotating hammers attached to a rotor. It is commonly employed in mining, cement production, coal preparation, and mineral processing to achieve relatively large reductions in a single stage.

The typical hammerbrecher consists of a rigid housing, a rotor equipped with several hammers, a drive system, bearings, a feed hopper, and a discharge arrangement with breaker plates or a screening grate. Material enters the crushing chamber, where it is struck by rotating hammers. After initial fragmentation,碎 pieces are further reduced by repeated impacts and guided by the breaker plates or grate until they are small enough to pass through the discharge opening or screen.

Materials processed are usually brittle and medium-hard, such as limestone, gypsum, coal, shale, and certain ores. Advantages of hammerbrechers include a simple structure, high reduction ratios, and the ability to produce relatively uniform particle sizes with good shape. Limitations include wear of hammers and liners, reduced efficiency for very hard or abrasive materials, dependence on feed size and moisture, and dust generation. Variants include single-rotor and double-rotor designs, reversible rotor operation to extend hammer life, and different wear parts materials (e.g., manganese steel, carbide).
