Haidalanguage

Haidalanguage is a constructed language designed for fictional settings and language experimentation. It was developed by a community of linguists and hobbyists in the early 21st century to explore expressive grammar and accessible phonology. The language is not associated with any ethnic group or nation; it exists primarily in literature, games, and online communities.

Its phonology features a modest inventory of consonants and five vowel qualities with length contrast in some dialects. Syllables typically follow a C or CC onset, a V nucleus, and an optional coda. The writing system uses a Latin-based alphabet with diacritics to mark vowel length and palatalization; an alternate phonemic orthography is described in reference grammars.

Haidalanguage generally follows a subject–verb–object base order, with analytic structure and agglutinative morphology. Nouns mark number; verbs encode tense, aspect, and mood through affixes and clitics. Modifiers precede head nouns; most functional words are separate particles rather than bound morphemes. Pronouns distinguish person and number.

Negation is expressed by a particle before the verb; question forms are formed with rising intonation or a question particle. Gathered resources include grammars, dictionaries, and example texts compiled by the community; there are language-learning materials and online courses. Haidalanguage is primarily used for fictional worldbuilding, linguistic experimentation, and role-playing; it has no official speakers or status beyond hobbyist use.
