Haardamist

Haardamist is a Dutch term for a professional hairdresser, derived from the words “haar” (hair) and “dambare” (worker). In the Netherlands and Belgium a haardamist is licensed to cut, style, color, straighten, perm, and treat hair in accordance with national and European health and safety regulations. The profession is regulated by the Dutch Hairdressing Association and must meet specific apprenticeship requirements before obtaining a trade license.

The role of a haardamist extends beyond cutting; it includes client consultation, diagnosis of scalp and hair conditions, and recommendation of suitable products and treatments.
