Hávera

Hávera is a town and municipal seat in the northern valley of the Jori River, in the fictional country of Valoria. As of 2023, it has about 8,400 residents and covers roughly 18 square kilometers. The name Hávera comes from an old Valorian term meaning guardian.

Hávera sits on a flat alluvial plain framed by low hills. The climate is temperate, with mild winters, warm summers, and about 700 millimeters of precipitation annually.

Founded in the 12th century as a market town, Hávera received municipal rights in 1307. It expanded in the 18th and 19th centuries through the textile industry and later diversified into light manufacturing and services. A major flood in 1910 reshaped the riverfront and spurred civic planning.

The economy is mixed, with textiles, small-scale manufacturing, logistics, and agriculture (grain and fruit). A small industrial park on the outskirts hosts several SMEs, while the town center serves nearby rural communities.

Hávera is governed by a mayor and a twelve-member city council. It is part of Valoria’s Nordhavn Province and collaborates with neighboring municipalities on regional services.

Notable landmarks include St. Martin’s Church and the 17th‑century Town Hall. The annual Harvest Festival and a local history museum reflect Hávera’s heritage. The town preserves a blend of Valorian architecture and vernacular timber framing.

Hávera is served by the Valorian Main Line railway and regional bus routes. A river port accommodates leisure boats; the nearest airport is in the regional capital. Education comprises a primary school, a secondary school, and a public library.
