Gyógyszerkinetikai refers to the study of how a drug moves into, through, and out of the body. It encompasses four main processes: absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion, commonly abbreviated as ADME.

Absorption describes the process by which a drug enters the bloodstream from its site of administration. This can occur through various routes, such as oral ingestion, injection, or topical application, and is influenced by factors like the drug's chemical properties and the physiological environment.

Distribution refers to the reversible transfer of a drug from the bloodstream to various tissues and organs in the body. The extent to which a drug distributes depends on its ability to cross biological membranes, its binding to plasma proteins, and the blood flow to different tissues.

Metabolism, also known as biotransformation, is the process by which the body chemically alters drugs. This usually occurs in the liver and often converts drugs into more water-soluble compounds, making them easier to eliminate.

Excretion is the final removal of drugs and their metabolites from the body, primarily through the kidneys in urine, but also via bile, feces, sweat, and exhaled air. Understanding these ADME processes is crucial for determining appropriate drug dosages, predicting therapeutic effects, and identifying potential drug interactions.
