Gurushikhar

Gurushikhar is the highest point in the Aravalli Range, located in Sirohi District of Rajasthan, India. It stands at an elevation of 1,722 meters (5,650 feet) above sea level. The peak is named after Dattatreya, a revered Hindu deity, and is often referred to as "Guru Shikhar" or "Guru's Peak."

At the summit of Gurushikhar, there is a temple dedicated to Lord Dattatreya, which is a significant pilgrimage site. Adjacent to this temple is another shrine dedicated to Saint Guru Dattatreya, whose footprints are also believed to be present here. The area around Gurushikhar is known for its scenic beauty and provides panoramic views of the surrounding landscape, including the Jain temples of Dilwara in Mount Abu.

The ascent to Gurushikhar involves a trek, with a series of steps leading up to the temple complex. The site is a popular tourist destination, attracting both pilgrims and nature enthusiasts. The climate at Gurushikhar is generally cooler than the plains below, making it a pleasant place to visit. The Aravalli Range itself is one of the world's oldest mountain systems.
