Guiders

Guiders are individuals or devices that provide guidance, direction, or alignment. The term is used across many fields, and its meaning depends on context. In human contexts, guiders are people who assist others in learning, navigating, or making decisions—examples include tour guides, mentors, and instructors.

In mechanical and optical applications, guiders describe components or tools that constrain or direct the motion of a part, align features, or keep instruments pointed. Common types include guide rails, edge guides, and guide blocks used in machining and woodworking; linear guides and guide wheels that enable smooth, controlled movement; and templates or jigs that position workpieces with repeatable accuracy. In astronomy, a guider may refer to a small telescope or sensor used to track a reference object so that a larger telescope remains accurately pointed.
