Großzellkarzinom

Großzellkarzinom, also known as large cell carcinoma, is a subtype of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). It is characterized by the presence of large, undifferentiated cells that lack the specific features of other NSCLC subtypes like adenocarcinoma or squamous cell carcinoma. This diagnosis is made based on microscopic examination of tumor cells.

Large cell carcinomas are often found in the outer parts of the lungs. They tend to grow and spread more rapidly than some other lung cancers. Symptoms can include a persistent cough, chest pain, shortness of breath, and unexplained weight loss, though these are common to many lung cancers and are not specific to large cell carcinoma.

The treatment approach for large cell carcinoma is generally similar to other NSCLCs and depends on the stage of the cancer, the patient's overall health, and other factors. Options may include surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, and targeted therapy or immunotherapy.
