Groepscontactor

A groepscontactor, often translated as a group contactor or group starter, is a type of electrical control device used in industrial and commercial settings. It is essentially a pre-assembled unit that combines multiple components designed to control a single motor or a group of motors. The primary function of a groepscontactor is to provide a safe and efficient way to start, stop, and protect electric motors from electrical faults.

The typical components within a groepscontactor include one or more contactors, which are heavy-duty relays that make and break electrical circuits. It also incorporates a thermal overload relay, a crucial safety feature that protects the motor from overheating due to overcurrent conditions.
