Grenzgrenze

Grenzgrenze is the German term for the boundary line that marks the limit of a state’s sovereignty or jurisdiction. It denotes the line itself, as distinguished from the broader border region or zone (Grenzzone) that surrounds it. The word combines Grenze, meaning border, with the intensifying suffix -grenze, reflecting emphasis on the line rather than the adjacent area.

In geography, history and cartography, Grenzgrenze is used to describe the documented boundary line between political entities. It appears in maps and treaties as the precise line along which two states exercise border rights, customs control and security jurisdiction.
