Grappelli
Grappelli is a surname most notably associated with Stéphane Grappelli (1908–1997), a French jazz violinist who became one of the leading figures in swing and European jazz. Born in Paris, Grappelli co-founded the Quintette du Hot Club de France in 1934 with guitarist Django Reinhardt. The group helped popularize a virtuosic, melodic style of small-group jazz, and Grappelli’s lyrical violin playing became a defining voice of the genre. He toured extensively with various ensembles, recorded with numerous artists, and influenced generations of players. His long career extended well into the late 20th century, leaving a lasting impact on jazz violin.
