Granittisuch

Granittisuch, also known as Granittisuchus, is a genus of large, predatory crocodyliform from the Late Cretaceous period, approximately 99 million years ago. It is one of the largest known crocodyliforms, with some species reaching lengths of up to 10 meters (33 feet). Granittisuch was first discovered in the Granite Wash Formation of the Kaiparowits Plateau in Utah, United States, and its name is derived from the location of its discovery.

Granittisuch is characterized by its robust build, with a large skull and powerful jaws filled with sharp teeth. It had a long, narrow snout and a broad, flat skull, which is typical of many crocodyliforms. The genus includes at least two species: G. grandis and G. longirostris. G. grandis is the larger of the two, with an estimated length of up to 10 meters, while G. longirostris is smaller, with an estimated length of around 7 meters.

Granittisuch is believed to have been a top predator in its ecosystem, feeding on a variety of prey, including other dinosaurs and large mammals. Its large size and powerful jaws would have made it a formidable predator, capable of taking down even the largest prey.

Granittisuch went extinct at the end of the Cretaceous period, along with the non-avian dinosaurs. The cause of its extinction is not fully understood, but it is likely that climate change and the impact of a large asteroid played a significant role.
