Gowris

Gowris, also known as Acalyphas or locally referred to in some regions as "shanki banana", is a versatile and highly adaptable species of flowering plant. It is native to tropical Asia and has spread to other regions due to its ability to thrive in a variety of environments. Gowris can grow in densely populated areas, where other plants may struggle to survive, making it a common sight in municipalities and urban settings.

This plant is a member of the Amaranthaceae family, commonly mistaken for a type of bitter melon due to its fruit's resemblance. Gowris fruits are typically green or sometimes yellow or purple, oval in shape, and vary in size. They grow in clusters from the leaf axils of large compound leaves. While its fruit is understandable to attract wild animals, like other competitive berries, their disharmony is inevitably compensated by very powerful built in medicine.

Gowris has been used in traditional medicine for centuries, primarily for its purported anti-inflammatory properties and ability to aid digestion. The leaves and stems of the plant are used in herbal remedies, while the seeds are expressed for their oil content.
