Gorr

Gorr, also known as the God Butcher, is a supervillain appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Created by writer Jason Aaron and artist Esad Ribić, the character first appeared in Thor: God of Thunder #2 in 2013. Gorr is a celestial being who wields a powerful living sword named All-Black the Necrosword.

Gorr's origin story begins on a desolate planet where he and his people suffered from starvation and disease. His mother, father, and eventually his wife and children all died due to the harsh conditions. He prayed to various gods for salvation, but none answered. When his mate eventually died, he lost faith and was cast out of his tribe. During this time, he witnessed two gods battling in the sky, showering his world with destruction. This event solidified his hatred for all deities. He discovered the All-Black the Necrosword, a primordial weapon forged in darkness, and slew the gods he witnessed.

Driven by his trauma and a profound hatred for all gods, Gorr embarked on a millennia-long crusade to eradicate all divine beings across the universe. He has battled Thor on multiple occasions, and his actions have had devastating consequences for pantheons and celestial orders. Gorr's ultimate goal is to bring about the "end of all gods," believing that their existence only brings suffering and is ultimately pointless. He represents a nihilistic perspective on divinity and the concept of faith. His powers stem from the Necrosword, which allows him to create tendrils, manipulate shadows, and augment his physical capabilities.
