Gjimnastikë

Gjimnastikë, often referred to as gymnastics, is a sport that involves performing a series of exercises requiring strength, flexibility, balance, coordination, and agility. These exercises are often performed on various apparatus or on a floor mat. The sport has a long history, with roots tracing back to ancient Greece where physical training was highly valued. Modern gymnastics developed in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, largely influenced by German educator Friedrich Ludwig Jahn.

There are several distinct disciplines within gymnastics. Artistic gymnastics is perhaps the most widely recognized, featuring events for both men and women on different apparatus. For women, these include the vault, uneven bars, balance beam, and floor exercise. For men, the events are floor exercise, pommel horse, still rings, vault, parallel bars, and horizontal bar. Rhythmic gymnastics is another popular discipline, primarily for women, which combines elements of ballet, dance, and gymnastics with the use of hand apparatus such as the rope, hoop, ball, clubs, and ribbon. Trampoline gymnastics involves performing acrobatic skills on a trampoline.

Gymnastics competitions are judged based on the difficulty of the skills performed and the execution of those skills. Deductions are made for errors in form, balance, and landings. The sport requires extensive training from a young age, focusing on conditioning, skill development, and injury prevention. Gymnastics is a prominent Olympic sport, captivating audiences with its athleticism and artistry.
