Gjenger

Gjenger is a fictional municipality and parish in the northern part of the fictional country of Eldoria. It forms part of the Nordmark Region and is governed as a local municipality within Eldoria's decentralized administrative framework.

The municipality covers about 74 square kilometers and includes a central valley bisected by the Gjenger River. The landscape combines mixed forests, farmland, and gentle hill ranges. The climate is temperate, with cold winters and mild summers.

Evidence of settlement in Gjenger dates to the medieval era, with a market town charter in the 13th century. The economy rested on timber, textiles, and agriculture. It industrialized modestly in the 19th and 20th centuries while preserving rural character.

As of 2020, Gjenger had about 8,200 inhabitants. The population is predominantly Eldorian, and the official language is Eldorian, with small dialect communities. The town has schools, a hospital, and cultural centers.

Gjenger is governed by a municipal council elected for four-year terms. The mayor chairs the council and heads administration. The council operates from Gjenger Town Hall.

Major sectors include forestry, agriculture, light manufacturing, and services. The town supports a regional market, tourism, and local crafts.

Notable sites include the 12th-century Gjenger Church, the Gjenger Museum, and the nearby Gjenger Nature Reserve. The annual Winter Market and midsummer festival attract residents and visitors.
