Getup

Getup, sometimes written get-up, is a noun in English that refers to the clothing or outfit a person wears for a particular occasion, function, or presentation. It is an informal term that can describe ensembles ranging from everyday attire to costumes or staged looks, often with connotations of distinctiveness or novelty. The word derives from the phrase get up meaning to rise or dress oneself, with the noun form emerging in English to denote the overall clothing or appearance rather than a single garment.

In addition to its clothing sense, getup can be used in reference to the act of getting up from bed (get up) or to a person’s style, as in describing someone’s current getup. Spelling variants include get-up and getup.

Turkish get-up is a well-known weightlifting movement. Performed with a kettlebell or dumbbell, it begins lying on the back and progresses through a sequence of positions to standing while keeping the weight overhead. The exercise emphasizes shoulder stability, core strength, mobility, and coordinated movement, and has multiple progressions and safety considerations.
