Getalveld
Getalveld is a Dutch term formed from getal (number) and veld (field). It can refer to different concepts depending on context. In mathematics, getalveld is sometimes used to describe a field whose elements are numbers, i.e., a set equipped with addition and multiplication that satisfy the field axioms. Common examples include the rational numbers, real numbers, and complex numbers, as well as more exotic number fields encountered in algebraic number theory. In this mathematical sense, a getalveld must be closed under addition and multiplication, contain additive and multiplicative identities (0 and 1), guarantee that every nonzero element has a multiplicative inverse, and satisfy distributivity of multiplication over addition. The term is often equivalent to simply using the standard term veld in Dutch texts, with getal- emphasising the numerical nature of the elements.
In computing and user interfaces, getalveld refers to a numeric input field within a form or application.
Outside mathematics and interfaces, Getalveld may appear as a proper noun in fictional works, educational games,
