Genshin Impact, commonly referred to as Genshin, is a free-to-play action role-playing game developed by miHoYo, later rebranded as HoYoverse. It released in 2020 for Windows, PlayStation 4, iOS, and Android, with a PlayStation 5 version and ongoing cross-platform availability. The game uses cross-save across platforms through a HoYoLAB account.

Set in the fantasy world of Teyvat, Genshin follows the Traveller, who journeys across regions seeking their lost sibling while encountering gods, factions, and a variety of creatures. The game features real-time combat with a party system that allows players to switch between up to four characters. Each character wields one of seven elemental power sets—Anemo, Geo, Electro, Dendro, Hydro, Pyro, and Cryo—and can trigger combined elemental reactions to defeat enemies and solve puzzles. Exploration is encouraged in a large open world filled with environmental puzzles, dungeons, and hidden loot. Regions expanded through free major updates over the years, introducing new cultures, stories, and gameplay mechanics; notable regions include Mondstadt, Liyue, Inazuma, Sumeru, Fontaine, and Natlan.

Monetization relies on a gacha system called "Wish," through which players spend in-game currency to obtain randomized characters and weapons. Event banners highlight specific units, with pity mechanics that guarantee a five-star item after a certain number of pulls. The service model emphasizes regular content drops, limited-time activities, new characters, and story chapters rather than a single initial campaign.

Genshin Impact has received widespread attention for its art style, world design, and combat depth, achieving substantial commercial success and a large player base. It remains an ongoing project with frequent updates and new regional content.
