Genezing is a term used in some discussions to describe the use of genetic mechanisms and gene-based therapies to promote healing and tissue regeneration. It is not a formally defined medical discipline; rather, it spans several approaches within regenerative medicine and gene therapy aimed at restoring function after injury or disease.

Origins and usage: The word blends 'gene' with 'healing' or 'healing process' and is more common in popular science writing or speculative contexts than in clinical guidelines. In scientific literature, more precise terms such as gene therapy, regenerative medicine, or gene editing are used.

Key approaches: Therapeutic genes delivered by vectors to produce proteins that stimulate cell growth or repair; gene editing to correct disease-causing mutations; upregulation of endogenous repair pathways via CRISPR activation; RNA therapies; and combinations with stem cells or biomaterials. Delivery methods include viral vectors, lipid nanoparticles, and physical methods.

Applications and status: Experimental and early clinical-stage work targets wound healing, retinal and muscular dystrophies, spinal cord injuries, and organ regeneration. Many therapies are still in research phases; challenges include ensuring targeted delivery, avoiding off-target effects, immune responses, durability of effect, and cost.

Ethics and regulation: As with other gene-based therapies, genezing approaches raise safety, consent, accessibility, and equity concerns. Regulatory pathways require rigorous preclinical data, phased clinical trials, and long-term follow-up.
