Gazdagításként

Gazdagításként is a Hungarian adverb that denotes a role or purpose: it indicates that a particular process or step is used for enrichment. The noun gazdagítás refers to enrichment or beneficiation, and gazdagításként translates roughly to “as enrichment” or “for enrichment purposes.” The term appears mainly in technical or scientific language, especially in mining/metallurgy and microbiology, but can be used in other contexts where selective concentration is intended.

In mining and mineral processing, gazdagítás means ore beneficiation—the set of processes that increase the proportion of valuable minerals in a material by removing gangue. The goal is to produce a concentrate with a higher metal content than the feed ore. Common methods include crushing and grinding combined with separation techniques such as flotation, magnetic separation, gravity concentration, and jigging. When a procedure is described as gazdagításként, it signals that the method serves the enrichment step, for example: “A flotációt gazdagításként alkalmazzák.”

In microbiology, gazdagítás also refers to enrichment culture, where a sample is incubated in media designed to favor the growth of particular microorganisms. Gazdagításként used steps aim to increase the abundance of target species to facilitate isolation, identification, or study of ecological interactions. An example usage would be: “A mintát gazdagításként inkubálták, hogy a célmikroorganizmus megtelepedjen.”

Etymology: gazdagítás derives from gazdag (rich) with the suffix -ítás, and gazdagításként is the corresponding adverbial form. The term is characteristic of formal, technical Hungarian prose and appears alongside other domain-specific expressions such as érctelenítés, ércfeldolgozás, and gazdagítási eljárás.
