Garai

The Garai family (Hungarian: Garai család) was a prominent medieval Hungarian noble family originating from the region. They rose to significant power and influence in the 14th and 15th centuries. Members of the family held high offices, including Ban of Croatia and Ban of Macsó. Miklós Garai was Palatine of Hungary and Ban of Croatia, serving under King Louis I and Queen Mary. His son, also named Miklós Garai, was a key figure during the reign of King Sigismund and later under Albert and Ladislaus V, holding the position of Palatine. The family's influence waned towards the end of the 15th century.
