Gangachhara

Gangachhara is a sub-district located in the Rangpur Division of Bangladesh. Administratively, it falls under the Rangpur District. The area is situated in the northern part of Bangladesh.

The geography of Gangachhara is characterized by its riverine landscape, with the Teesta River playing a significant role in its topography and the lives of its inhabitants. The region experiences a tropical monsoon climate, with hot summers, a distinct monsoon season, and milder winters. Agriculture is a primary economic activity, with rice cultivation being prominent.

Gangachhara Upazila was established as a thana in 1962 and later became an upazila in 1983. It is divided into several union parishads, which are the lowest administrative units. The population of Gangachhara comprises people of various ethnic and religious backgrounds, with Bengali being the predominant language spoken.

The sub-district faces developmental challenges common to many rural areas in Bangladesh, including infrastructure development and access to education and healthcare services. Efforts are often made by the government and non-governmental organizations to improve the living standards of the residents.
