Gangachharas

Gangachhara is a significant Hindu temple located in the Indian state of West Bengal, near the city of Nabadwip in Nadia district. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas, a group of sacred sites where the goddess Shakti or Sati is believed to have fallen while being carried by her husband Lord Shiva after her self-immolation at the funeral pyre of her father.

According to local legend, the temple is situated at a spot where the hair of the goddess Sati is believed to have fallen. The temple's structure is a unique blend of Hindu and Buddhist architectural styles, with intricate carvings and sculptures depicting various scenes from Hindu mythology.

The Gangachhara temple is surrounded by several other popular pilgrimage sites, including the Kapilash Palace, the Chaitanya Math, and the Nimsar Complex. The temple is also close to the bank of the Bhagirathi River, which is considered sacred in Hinduism.
