GPSnavigatsioonis, or GPS navigation, refers to the process of determining and controlling one's position and velocity on Earth using a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver. The GPS is a satellite-based radio-navigation system owned by the United States government and operated by the United States Space Force. It consists of a constellation of satellites that transmit signals to GPS receivers.

A GPS receiver calculates its position by triangulating its distance from at least four different GPS satellites. This calculation relies on the precise timing of signals received from these satellites. By measuring the time it takes for a signal to travel from each satellite to the receiver, the receiver can determine the distance to each satellite. With distances to multiple satellites, the receiver can pinpoint its location on Earth's surface, and with four or more satellites, it can also determine its altitude and velocity.
