GNSOs

GNSO stands for the Generic Names Supporting Organization. It is a policy development body within the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN). The GNSO is responsible for developing and recommending policies related to generic Top-Level Domains (gTLDs), such as .com, .org, and .net, as well as new gTLDs.

The GNSO operates through a multi-stakeholder model, bringing together various groups interested in gTLD policy. These groups include domain name registrars, registry operators, intellectual property holders, civil society organizations, and individual users. This diverse representation ensures that policies are developed through a consensus-based process that considers a wide range of perspectives.
