Göschenens
Göschenen is a municipality in the canton of Uri, Switzerland. It is located at the northern entrance to the Gotthard Base Tunnel, the world's longest railway tunnel. The village is situated in the narrow Göschenen Valley, at the confluence of the rivers Reuss and Dammastock. Historically, Göschenen was an important stop on the Gotthard Pass route, a crucial transalpine connection. The construction of the Gotthard railway in the late 19th century and later the Gotthard motorway significantly boosted its strategic importance.
