Fälgkåpor

Fälgkåpor, often referred to as wheel covers or hubcaps, are decorative elements fitted over a vehicle's wheel rim. Their primary purpose is aesthetic, designed to enhance the visual appeal of standard steel wheels, making them resemble more expensive alloy wheels. They are typically made from plastic, though historically some were made from metal.

These covers are attached to the wheel using the same lug nuts that secure the wheel to the vehicle, or sometimes with retaining clips. The design of fälgkåpor varies greatly, with many mimicking the appearance of multi-spoke alloy wheels or other intricate patterns. They can also serve a secondary, minor protective function by shielding the wheel bolts from dirt and moisture.

While fälgkåpor are a popular aftermarket accessory for customization, they are also sometimes fitted as standard equipment on lower trim levels of vehicles that come with steel wheels. They are relatively inexpensive and easy to install or replace, making them an accessible option for vehicle owners looking to personalize their car's appearance. However, they are not as durable as actual alloy wheels and can be prone to damage from impacts or harsh weather conditions. Their effectiveness in protecting the underlying wheel is limited.
