Funktioniertet
Funktioniertet is the second-person plural past tense form (Präteritum) of the German verb funktionieren. It corresponds to “you all functioned” or “you all operated” in English. In contemporary standard German, the Präteritum form for ihr is rarely used in everyday speech; most speakers express past events with the Perfekt, for example “Ihr habt funktioniert,” or simply use “Es hat funktioniert” for a general “it has worked.” Consequently, funktioniertet is mainly found in older literature, formal or didactic writing, or in some regional dialects where the Präteritum remains more common. It can also appear in historical texts or in dialogue intended to evoke an archaic tone.
