Funkciókorlátozottság

Funkciókorlátozottság refers to a state where an individual experiences limitations in their ability to perform activities and participate in life due to a health condition or impairment. It is a concept central to the World Health Organization's International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF).

This limitation is not solely determined by the presence of a disease or disorder, but rather by the interaction between a person's underlying health condition and their personal and environmental factors. For example, a person with a mobility impairment might experience significant functional limitation in a city with poor accessibility, while experiencing less limitation in an accessible environment.

Funkciókorlátozottság encompasses three main domains: impairments in body functions and structures, activity limitations, and participation restrictions. Impairments refer to problems in bodily systems. Activity limitations are difficulties an individual may have in executing a task or action. Participation restrictions are problems an individual may experience in involvement in life situations.

Understanding funkciókorlátozottság is crucial for developing effective interventions and support systems that promote inclusion and enhance the quality of life for individuals with disabilities. It shifts the focus from a purely medical model to a more holistic, biopsychosocial perspective.
