Functionshuman is a theoretical construct used in cognitive science, philosophy of action, and design theory to describe a model of personhood centered on function and process rather than fixed essence. The term blends function and human to emphasize that behavior arises from interacting cognitive, emotional, and social operations aimed at achieving adaptive goals.

Proponents treat a person as a dynamic system in which outputs are shaped by the arrangement of mental processes, regulatory mechanisms, and contextual inputs from the social environment. The approach is related to functionalism in philosophy of mind and to systems theory, and it often favors functional analyses that map goals, actions, and constraints rather than intrinsic traits.

In practice, functionshuman informs how researchers and designers model human behavior in areas such as human–robot interaction, user experience design, and organizational psychology. It supports task decomposition, goal modeling, and the alignment of technology with human workflows by focusing on what functions must be performed rather than what a person is presumed to be.

Critics argue that reducing persons to functions can overlook aspects of subjectivity, embodiment, rights, and moral responsibility. Proponents counter that, if used carefully and in context, the framework offers a clear, scalable method for analyzing complex adaptive behavior without denying personhood.
