Fruitforms refers to the diverse shapes, sizes, and structures that fruits exhibit. These characteristics are a result of evolutionary adaptations driven by factors such as seed dispersal mechanisms, pollination strategies, and environmental conditions. The variety in fruitforms is vast, ranging from simple berries to complex aggregate and multiple fruits.

Simple fruits develop from a single flower with one ovary. They can be fleshy, like apples and tomatoes, or dry, like nuts and grains. Fleshy fruits often attract animals for seed dispersal through their color, aroma, and taste. Dry fruits, on the other hand, may rely on wind, water, or mechanical means to spread their seeds.

Aggregate fruits arise from a single flower with multiple separate ovaries, such as raspberries and strawberries. Each of the small units in a raspberry, for instance, develops from a separate carpel within the same flower. Multiple fruits develop from an inflorescence, where a cluster of flowers fuses together to form a single fruit structure. Pineapples and figs are common examples of multiple fruits.

Some fruits are designed to be easily consumed and digested, while others offer protection for their seeds until conditions are favorable for germination.
