Friktsioonkeevitus, also known as friction welding, is a solid-state joining process that utilizes the heat generated by the friction between two workpieces to achieve a weld. One part is typically rotated at high speed while being pressed against a stationary part. The relative motion and applied pressure create significant heat due to friction, which softens the surfaces of both materials. Once sufficient plastic deformation occurs, the rotation is stopped, and a force called "upset" is applied to forge the materials together.
