Freimists
Freimists are a religious group that originated in the Rhineland of Germany during the late 17th century. They are a branch of the Anabaptist tradition, sharing core beliefs with other Mennonite and Amish communities. A key tenet of Freimists is their emphasis on "freim," a German word often translated as "freedom" or "liberty," particularly in the spiritual sense. This refers to an inner freedom from the dictates of the world and a focus on living according to one's conscience guided by divine principles.
Historically, Freimists distinguished themselves through their commitment to pacifism and nonresistance, refusing military service and oaths.
