Franconian
Franconian denotes Franconia, a historical and cultural region in northern Bavaria, Germany. The area is organized for cultural and historical purposes into three general subregions—Lower Franconia (Unterfranken), Middle Franconia (Mittelfranken), and Upper Franconia (Oberfranken)—and contains cities such as Würzburg, Nuremberg, Bamberg, Bayreuth, and Coburg. Although it is part of the state of Bavaria, Franconia maintains a distinct regional identity reflected in its towns, landscapes, and traditions.
