Frameindeling

Frameindeling is a term used to describe how content is organized within frames—bounded areas that contain elements of a composition. The concept is used across different disciplines, notably graphic design and publishing, film and video, and user interfaces. The meaning varies by domain, but the core idea is to arrange elements in a deliberate way to improve clarity, balance, and narrative or informational impact.

In publishing and graphic design, frameindeling refers to splitting a page into text and image frames arranged on a grid. Designers use grids, margins, gutters, and alignment to create a visual rhythm and to guide the reader’s eye. A frameindeling may include a masthead, columns, feature image, captions, and sidebars, all positioned within a modular frame system.
