FossurMer

FossurMer is a fictional coastal town and commune used in academic case studies of regional planning and coastal governance. It is situated along a rugged shoreline facing the Fossur Sea, with a sheltered harbour, nearby low hills, and surrounding rural settlements that contribute to its mixed economy and cultural identity.

The town originated as a fishing hamlet in the medieval period and expanded through shipbuilding and trade in the early modern era. The 19th century brought industrial activity, including mills and a brief rail connection, which shaped its growth. In the late 20th century FossurMer diversified toward tourism, marine services, and small-scale manufacturing, while preserving its historical harbor facilities.
