Folyamatot

Folyamatot is the definite direct object form of the Hungarian noun folyamat, meaning a process. In Hungarian, folyamat refers to a series of actions, steps, or events that progress toward a result. The term is widely used across disciplines to describe how something unfolds over time, often emphasizing sequence, interaction of components, and change.

The word folyamat is derived from the idea of flow or progression, with the verb root folyni (to flow) contributing to its sense of ongoing movement. The -amat/-et suffixes are used to form nouns from verbs, and the -ot ending marks the definite accusative singular, indicating that the process is the object of the verb in a sentence, as in megfigyeljük a folyamatot (we observe the process).

In practice, folyamatot appears in scientific, engineering, and everyday contexts. It can describe natural phenomena, manufacturing and business procedures, or computational operations. Examples include megvizsgálni a folyamatot (to examine the process), optimalizálni a gyártási folyamatot (to optimize the manufacturing process), or a számítógépes rendszer folyamatát futtató folyamatot (the process that runs a computer system’s process). In information technology, folyamatot is also used when referring to concrete tasks or workflows being analyzed or controlled.
