Foliküler

Foliküler is a Turkish adjective meaning related to a follicle, a small sac or cavity in a tissue or organ. The word derives from Turkish folikül (follicle), which in turn comes from Latin folliculus.

In medicine and biology, foliküler is used to describe structures or conditions involving follicles. In reproductive biology, it refers to ovarian follicles, which progress from primordial to primary, secondary and Graafian (tertiary) stages, contain developing oocytes, and secrete hormones that regulate the menstrual cycle. In dermatology and trichology, it relates to hair follicles, the epidermal invaginations that produce hair; disorders include folliculitis, follicular keratosis, and folliculitis decalvans. In dentistry, the dental follicle surrounds a developing tooth, and follicular cysts can arise from this tissue.

In pathology, the term appears in names such as follicular lymphoma, a type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma derived from germinal center B cells; it often features a characteristic follicular (germinal center) architecture and may be associated with translocation t(14;18). The term also describes follicular patterns in lymphoid tissue or other organs, and in imaging or histology to denote features organized around follicles.

The usage of foliküler is therefore broad in Turkish medical and scientific language, signaling relation to any kind of follicle—ovarian, hair, dental, or lymphoid—and is found in descriptive, diagnostic, and classificatory contexts.
