Flödesvägen

Flödesvägen is a term used in hydrology and environmental engineering to describe the path that water and dissolved substances follow as they move through a medium or network. Etymologically, it combines the Swedish words for flow (flöde) and path (väg), and in practice the concept encompasses both groundwater flow paths and surface-water routing within catchments, soils, sediments, or fractured rock.

In groundwater hydrology, flödesvägen refers to the trajectories that particles of water or tracers take as they travel through aquifers and aquitards. These paths are influenced by permeability, porosity, hydraulic gradients, and heterogeneity of the subsurface.
