Flygstyrning

Flygstyrning, which translates to "flight control" in English, refers to the system and methods used to maneuver an aircraft. This encompasses a range of controls that allow pilots to adjust the aircraft's attitude, altitude, and direction. The primary components of a typical flight control system include the control surfaces of the aircraft. These are movable parts of the wings, tail, and fuselage that, when deflected, alter the airflow and thus the forces acting on the aircraft.

The main control surfaces are the ailerons, which are typically located on the trailing edge of the wings, used to control the aircraft's roll. The elevator, found on the horizontal stabilizer, controls the pitch (nose up or down). The rudder, located on the vertical stabilizer, controls the yaw (nose left or right). Modern aircraft often employ complex fly-by-wire systems where pilot inputs are processed by computers before being sent to hydraulic actuators that move the control surfaces. This allows for enhanced stability, maneuverability, and the implementation of flight envelope protection. Manual flight control systems, found on simpler aircraft, directly link the pilot's yoke or stick and rudder pedals to the control surfaces via cables, pulleys, and pushrods. Effective flygstyrning is crucial for safe and efficient flight operations.
