The name derives from the verb flip, reflecting its iconic rotating walkways and elevated districts.

Geography and planning: Flippede sits on coral-built platforms linked by flip towers and retractable bridges. The urban core forms concentric rings around a central harbor, with residential levels above and markets below. The climate is tropical, moderated by sea breezes and regular rainfall shaping water policy.

History and governance: Founded in the 11th century by the Flippede Collective, a union of merchants and engineers, it grew as a regional trade hub and was rebuilt after a major earthquake in the 16th century. In modern times it is depicted as a constitutional republic with a City Council representing districts and an executive director who administers the city.

Economy and culture: The economy combines seaborne trade, crafts, and light manufacturing with digital services. Major industries include glassware, ship provisioning, and flip-tech hardware for public spaces. Cultural life centers on the Festival of Turns and the Spiral Market, a pedestrian hub for crafts and food. Education includes the Flippede Institute of Technology (FIT).
